Halcyon Community take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Halcyon Offices hosted a Macmillan coffee morning at Connect House last Friday, inviting customers and associates to indulge in a piece of cake (or two). This Nationwide event has become the World’s biggest coffee morning and helps to raise awareness and vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Supporting Macmillan

Macmillan’s mission is to make sure no one faces cancer alone. They provide medical, emotional, practical and financial support, as well as campaigning for better cancer care. And because cancer affects more than just those facing it, they are there for friends and family too. There are now 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer. By 2030, it will be 4 million people, and they want to be there for them all.

Macmillan are a fantastic charity who carryout amazing work but they rely on donations to be able to do this. £780 was raised for Macmillan at Halcyon’s coffee morning held at Thorncroft Manor last year, and the challenge was on to beat this record at this year’s event.

Raising the baking bar!

The stakes were raised at the Best Baker Competition with a plethora of beautifully designed and, most importantly, delicious cakes on display. Our bakers were no doubt inspired by the return of 'The Great British Bake Off' with 9 cakes entered into this year's competition. Archie Dobson was awarded the 2017 Winner’s Trophy, setting the bar high for 2018's event. The trophy was kindly donated by Leatherhead Timpson.

Raffle Grand Draw held at Thorncroft Manor

Raffle Prizes were very generously donated by a number of local companies and Halcyon customers. With such fantastic prizes up for grabs, it was no surprise to see many guests return to the Grand Draw which was held at Thorncroft Manor this afternoon.

Making a difference together

Sadly, cancer has affected many of us and it was wonderful to see the Halcyon Business Community come together to support this worthy cause. Together, we raised a total of £1045!.
